Water Street Woes By Michael Camarata What’s in a name? It seems that nearly every town has a Water Street, but have you ever stopped to wonder where the name came from? Traditionally, the name Water Street was given to the street where flood waters crested. So if you are thinking of buying property on Water Street, you may want to consider looking into the price of flood insurance. Of course this is not always the case. In my home town of Ellensburg, Washington, they built Interstate 90 between the Yakima River and the town, effectively cutting off flood waters and leaving Water Street high and dry.

Hi Michael great intel, where I live must be called water town because I live in Sheffield South Yorkshire and last year the city was a wash, all the rivers burst their banks and it was chaos people had to be air lifted to safety.
